Why monitor backlinks?

Backlinks are essentially incoming links from other relevant websites to your website. They are important because if done right, they will give credibility to your website, which in turn improves your ranking. But backlinks can also be harmful if they are coming from low-quality websites.

Nightwatch's backlink-tracking feature can help you look for contextual backlinks, identify suspicious and harmful ones, and then visualize the data to focus on building a better strategy. It also helps you to identify high-value backlinks that have the highest impact on your rankings, and monitor them regularly to give you more control.

Start monitoring backlinks

To start monitoring backlinks for a specific website or URL, you have first to enable it. Here's how you can do so:

• Within a website’s dashboard, click “Backlinks” at the left sidebar.
• If you have not enabled this feature before, you’ll be prompted to click “Start tracking backlinks”.
• Once that’s done, Nightwatch will automatically help to search for new backlinks every three days.

Adding Backlinks Manually

In case you already have a list of backlinks (either existing ones or prospects) that you want Nightwatch to monitor and update their status periodically, you can add them by clicking on the “Add Links” button at the backlinks page:

Once you enable your backlinks, you can customize your settings with these steps:

• Within a website’s dashboard, click “Settings” at the left sidebar.
• Click “Backlinks”.
• Here, you can edit its settings further.
